Frontier Culture Museum: Staunton, VA

This "museum" was more of an exhibit.  They portray 4 farming communities: West Africa, Ireland, Germany, & England, helping you understand what the immigrants' lives were like before they came to America.  They had people dressed in period costume, who would share about their lives.  Then, there was a 2nd area which showed how all of these different cultures merged into a new frontier culture that was uniquely American.

This was basically the "poor man's Williamsburg." We decided to forego visiting the Williamsburg attraction and instead created a very interesting day of Jamestown & Yorktown.  I'm falling behind, but will try to post that up tomorrow.

  1. Sounds really interesting depicting the cultures. Did they have okra in the African?

A different concept and one all ages could grasp.

Williamsburg is too highbrow. Enjoy your time, don't stress about the BLOG
